Most of the dream techniques that I have learned are from Robert Moss and for the dream group, I will primarily be using his techniques. Three techniques that have been used are highlighted in blue.

Lightning Dream Work technique

This will be the primary technique that will be used where the dreamer shares a dream with the group. This technique includes the if it were my dream. Basically the steps are as follows:

1) Title - Give the dream a title - if you have a title that catches people's attention that would be great.

2) Feeling- How did you feel when you got up from the dream?

3) Reality Check - In this third step we ask the dreamer if there are any aspects of the dream that are part of waking reality or any aspects of the dream that pertains to the past or the present or something that is going to be done in the future. During this step we ask the dreamer some questions but we try to avoid asking personal questions.

4) Know - Now we ask the dreamer what she or he wants to know about their dream.

5) If it were my dream - now the group takes on the dream as their own dream and offers insights to the dreamer. For example, if the dream is about being in a kitchen, I would say, "If it were my dream I would think of the kitchen as place where members of a family meet, it is a meeting place in the house hold as well as place to attain nourishment" etc...

6) Action - after different members of the group offer insights, interpretations to a dream, then the dreamer is asked to honor the messages in the dream. The dreamer has to come up with a specific action that pertains to the dream and that action must be performed in a certain time period. For example if the dream is about cooking in the kitchen, then the dreamer might be interested in making a meal in the next few days. The dreamer decides on the action plan. If the dreamer has trouble coming up with an action plan then the group offers suggestions.

7) Sign - the dreamer is asked to come up with a bumper sticker than captures the essence or the message in the dream.

Dream Theater

I never thought I would like doing theater but I found the best way to get out of one's head is sometimes to move the body and do some simple theater work. If time and the venue permits, group members can act out a dream that has some fun characteristics to it.

Drumming and Dream reentry

Gentle monotonous drumming also known as meditative drumming is used along with creative visualization to reenter the landscape of a dream. I find dream re-entry can be a fun option that is not the same but has similarities to lucid dreams.
