The Wednesday Dream Circle is an intentionally focused group to actively explore the World of Dreams and Dream Time and to apply the Wisdom of the Dream and dream techniques to waking life and other modes of consciousness. Each month we will explore specific dream-related techniques, ideas, books, etc. (listed at the end of this description). You can look forward to interesting conversation, intriguing exercises, and many opportunities to delve more and more deeply into the Dream World. Curiosity, a willingness to look within, and respect for all participants are integral to this process. If you keep a dream journal, please bring that as well. Remembering dreams is not required -- there will be many ways to participate and you may begin to remember dreams as you take part in our explorations. In addition, while we will use dreams from circle participants to explore/practice various techniques, sharing a dream is optional -- respect for the privacy of dreamers and their dreams is fundamental to the integrity of the Circle.
For those with an interest in shamanic exploration, working with dreams will add another level of understanding to your experiences. Some of our techniques and explorations will be drawn from dream workers with a shamanic perspective or background (such as Robert Moss), and other techniques and explorations can be expanded/applied to a shamanic practice. IMPORTANT: This meetup is a joint venture between the Austin Dreams Meetup and the Austin Shamanism Meetup.
We Will Start On Time. Plan to arrive between 7:15-7:30pm. A short 'check in / touch base' will help us shift focus from the day's/week's events to the evening's exploration/activities. After checking in with everyone, and out of respect for the integrity of the Dream-Space we create, No One Will Be Admitted Once We Have Settled Into Our Dream Exploration Activities. Generally, the room will be set up with a circle of cushions on the floor and we'll have folding chairs available if sitting on the floor is a challenge for anyone. You are also welcome to bring a stadium cushion, seatback, etc. for your physical comfort. We will draw our explorations to a close around 9:00pm to allow time for informal conversation and transition back to 'everyday' reality.
MAY: With the understanding that Spirit may send us in other directions, the plan for May is to re-visit the tools, techniques, and resources we've explored up to now: active listening/holding space; body responses and sensations; where do you feel ('x') in your body?; 'if it were my dream'; telling the dream from another character's point of view; re-entering the dream via active imagination and via a drumming journey; describing dream elements to someone from another planet; re-entering a dream via movement and drumming to connect with dream animals, nature images, and non-human beings; looking as waking life events as if they were dreams; honoring the dream's message in waking life. We won't have time to do all of this in one meeting, so we'll follow the desires of the group, informed by spirit. We may also touch on the experience of mutual dreams/shared dreams.
